“IT takes more than just beauty to win a pageant.”

These are the words of aspiring model Nobuhle Zulu, from Muden, who entered the Miss KZN Colleges beauty pageant to inspire other women to aim for a brighter future.

Zulu is among 50 contestants selected from a wide range of participants who came for the auditions for the pageant, held at the BAT centre in Durban on March 23.

“I decided to enter this pageantry competition because I want to use the platform to become a voice to motivate and inspire others, especially those girls from rural areas where we see less of the programmes of this nature.

This will help me to meet new people along the journey.”

“Entering the pageant will enhance my public speaking skills as well as my self-confidence, and also help to master my public presentation skills,” Zulu said.

The next public event for the pageant will be held on August 9, where finalists will be selected.

Zulu added: “The selection will be based on the point system; points are collected by each contestant with each challenge or activity having points allocated.

“We have not reached the finalist stage so far and there are 50 contestants from the many who came for the auditions.”

“I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in accountancy at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Westville Campus).

Therefore presentations will be part of my daily routine.”

“In addition, the reason for entering this pageant was that I want to help more people, especially young people, to have confidence in themselves no matter where they come from.”
