ONCE again a very exciting enviro quiz took place at Greytown High School on Tuesday 9 May. This is the 28th enviro quiz with humble beginnings dating back to 1989 when it was initiated by Sue Swan.
This year for the first time in a while, five schools entered the Umvoti regional quiz - Greytown High, Hermannsburg, Domino Servite, Greytown Secondary and Wembley College

In the finale, first and second places were secured with Hermannsburg A team in the lead and Domino Servite A, hot on their heels. With Hermannsburg B and Domino Servite tieing for third place and a “shoot out” was held and Hermannsburg B won.

The evening was well supported and judging by the smiles from the contestants and the audience a good time was had by all.

Such an event could not take place without sponsorship and the organisers extend their thanks to the main sponsor of the evening, Mondi, Greytown area for their generous wildlife book prizes and all the catering arrangements.

Our appreciation also goes to Pidelta for their ongoing sponsorship of the framing, printing and paper costs of the certificates awarded to all the contestants. A special word of thanks must also go to Don Blacklaw for his initial sponsorship of the Wizzard Worms floating trophy awarded to the winning team.

Our congratulations go to all the teams that competed, the questions were challenging and well answered. The first and hopefully the second winning teams will now go through to the national enviro quiz at the University of KZN in Pietermaritzburg on 4 August.
