LAST Thursday a farewell function for retired teachers, Mrs GT Shezi and Mrs F. Ngubane, was held at school. The two teachers have a special connection to the school having been appointed in the early 1990s.

At that time, the school was a five-classroom mud structure situated across the main road.

Classrooms were used as shelter by goats at night because there were no doors. Teaching and learning was compromised due to a lack of resources.

They worked under extremely difficult conditions, but they persevered, but all that changed in 2004 when a R8 million state-of-the-art new school was completed.

At the farewell Mrs Ngubane and Mrs Shezi encouraged teachers to work hard and persevere, no matter what conditions they face. After the formalities a lunch was held. - Thanda Jila.
