MTN users to pay more next month

2019-04-03 06:02

MTN subscribers will soon have to dig deeper into their pockets after the service provider revealed its updated subscription pricing for contract customers. The new pricing will come into effect on May 1.

There will be an increase of approximately four percent and, in some instances, it will be slightly more, to align to market related pricing. Some packages, however, will remain unaffected.

MTN Public Relations specialist Mthokozisi Ndlovu told the Gazette:“In the past few years, MTN has worked to avoid increases to its subscription pricing, however, sustained inflationary pressures and increased input costs have meant price adjustments have become unavoidable.”

In addition, select MyMTNChoice Flexi price plans’ inclusive contract values will change to align to the new subscription price from June 1.

Executive for Corporate Affairs of MTN South Africa Jacqui O’Sullivan said: “At MTN, we have invested heavily in our network to offer our customers the speeds and seamless coverage across the country.

“Our products are focused on adding value to our customers and we will keep finding ways to make connectivity as efficient and cost effective as possible.

“We thank our customers for their loyalty. We will continue working to deliver the best possible experience and service, through every interaction they have with us,” said O’Sullivan.

My MTNChoice 500MB data that currently costs R55 will go up to R60, 1GB will increase from R85 to R90 and 2GB will increase from R139 to R145.
