Muden Canal closure 2 to 13 June

2017-05-31 06:05

MUDEN Canal will be undergoing some repairs and improvements by the Department of Water and Sanitation and will be closed for two weeks, from 2 June to 13 June.
Umzinyathi District Municipality spokesperson said: “This unfortunately, will have an impact on the water supply in Muden as the current treatment works treats about 100 m3/h of water and during the closure a diesel portable pump will be used to abstract water from the river.
“This pump only gives 60 m3/h of water, therefore there will be a shortfall of 40 m3/h of water treated at the plant.
There will be a limited supply of water during this period as the flow will be reduced to allow for repairs to commence.”

Communities in Muden and surrounding areas are urged to use water sparingly during this period and throughout the coming winter months as the drought is not over yet.
