RESIDENTS of Mbuba ululated and danced as officials from Umvoti Municipality opened a new community hall on May 2.

The facility is the first of its kind in the area and community members clad in ANC T-shirts converged at the site to witness the official opening of the hall. The new facility has two offices, change rooms, a kitchen and toilets, including for people with disabilities.

Umvoti Municipality Mayor Thamsanqa Ngubane, together with other officials, opened KwaSkombo Community Hall.

“It’s a first for Umvoti to have toilets for the disabled people. In the premises of this facility there is also a crèche,” Ngubane said.

The new crèche will provide early childhood development to the children in the Mbuba area. Attending the function were Sphindile Ngiba (Umvoti municipal manager), Wilson Khoza (speaker) and other officials from the council. The facility will serve the Ntembisweni community at large and surroundings. The launch was part of the municipality’s development programme to accelerate services to communities.
