THE Christmas season is the perfect time to teach children the spirit of giving - lessons that can be revisited all year round. At New Hanover Prep School we strive to instill a sense of empathy, giving and nurturing in our children by exposing them to opportunities and enlightening them to understand the need to support one another in their community, country, and globally.

A fun sports day, for example, was arranged with our neighbouring school, sharing games, treats and surprise Christmas gift boxes. Singing and dancing for the local care centre residents at their Christmas celebration was also a highlight. These are ways we encourage our children to contemplate how they can be of service to others by exchanging gifts of time and talents in lieu of material gifts.
