SCHOOL trips are a powerful and positive teaching tool that helps to enhance the social, personal and emotional development of pupils at New Hanover Prep School.
Extra stimulation in new environments can be particularly beneficial and can help teach life skills and improve independence.
Grade 3 pupils learnt a great deal about animals at Tala Game Reserve during their game drive, including giraffe, rhino, zebra, antelope, wildebeest and hippos. They also studied a variety of insects and went on an insect hunt. They enjoyed a nature treasure hunt around the reserve discovering interesting information about feathers, quills, snake skin, skulls, snail shells and other interesting items.
School trips certainly provide unique opportunities for kinaesthetic learning i.e. learning by doing. Hands-on learning activities outside the classroom lead to better achievement, standards, motivation and behaviour.
