A CHILD’S love of singing, acting and dancing should always be nurtured and encouraged as it promotes self-expression and self-confidence, originality and imagination. These are the skills that a person will carry with them always, and will help them reach their full potential for a lifetime.

At New Hanover Prep we provide opportunities for all children to be actively involved in a variety of drama performan- ces.

Recently Grade 2 pupils acted out a revised version of The Three Little Pigs by Roald Dahl. Grade 3 pupils held a theatre supper featuring Rumpus in the Rainforest and next week the Grade 4 and Grade 5 pupils will be entertaining the audience with a rendition of Ali Baba.

Most of the children have also entered in a speech and drama festival, which will be held this week.

No matter what career path a child ultimately chooses, the attributes and positive growth that come from the study of drama and performing arts is clearly beneficial to the overall well-rounded individual.
