WITH so many apps and devices competing for children's attention, it can be difficult to promote reading as a fun activity.

Recognising how critical reading is to children’s success, New Hanover Prep sees book month as the perfect opportunity to create some positive reading memories and to promote the sheer joy that reading can bring.

When children learn to read, they have the key that opens the door to all the knowledge of the world.

Books bring people together too, and the act of sharing a story aloud, is one of the oldest forms of social bonding in history. The Outreach Club spent an afternoon on a “Reading Rodeo” last week visiting a local old age home and orphanage, interacting with the residents while sharing their favourite story books.

It was wonderful to witness the pleasure of reading experienced by young and old alike!
