ON Friday 23 February the first team rugby boys took part in their first Voortrekker Night Series match for the season.

The boys faced a tough Ferrum side, without a warm up as they met with a few delays on the way.

The delay resulted in the boys only being able to play one half of the match.

However, the boys pulled out a 21 — 0 win. Try scorers were Lunga Ndlovu, Captain Scelimpilo Gumbi and Stehembele Zuma.

All three tries were converted by fly half Sthembele Zuma.

Three of the players — Lunga Ndlovu, Bonginkosi Mtolo and Stembele Zuma received congratulatory letters for their excellent game and were informed that their progress would be monitored throughout the season.

Scelimpilo Gumbi received an invitation to join the Sharks Academy Midlands Branch due to his outstanding level of play during the game.
