No action on farm attack

THE Greytown Gazette was approached last week by an ex-policeman on the lack of action following an attack on him and his wife last year in May, on a farm in the Ahrens area, during which he was stabbed several times and his wife assaulted by a gang of four.

This attack was reported to the police.

Then while they were on holiday in October, their home was broken into and the burglars “stripped” it of just about everything. On their return home a case was opened with the police and fingerprints were found in the house.

The victim, whose name is known to the Greytown Gazette but who has asked to remain anonymous, said that he was very frustrated and disappointed.

There had been no action in regard to the attack or the burglary — regarding the latter the police claimed to have no record of a case being opened.

He told the Greytown Gazette that he had tried to contact top police officials but just go shunted from pillar to post. He approached the paper with the hope that publicising this lack of action would generate a response.
He also said that he was going to national media as well as the minister of police.
