No-bake holiday treats

FOR young would-be-James Olivers some quick and tasty treats to rustle up.

CHOCOLATE CORNFLAKE BUNS

Ingredients

50g butter

4 tablespoons golden syrup

100g bar dark chocolate

75g cornflakes

Method

Combine, butter golden syrup and chocolate in a pot and cook over low heat until butter and chocolate melted and everything blended. And don’t forget to stir.

Take off heat and gently mix in cornflakes

Drop heaped spoonfuls onto a lightly buttered baking tray

Chill until set. - superyoungcool

ONE-BOWL CHOCOLATE FUDGE

Ingredients

450g plain chocolate

1 tin condensed milk

2 teaspoons vanilla essence

180g chopped nuts

Method

Line a square dish with foil.

Chop chocolate and place in large microwave bowl with condensed milk. Microwave on high, stirring once or twice until chocolate is soft, 2 to 3 minutes.

Remove and stir until smooth.

Stir in vanilla and walnuts.

Refrigerate two hours or so until firm. Cut into squares.

EASY PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE

Ingredients

110g butter

475g brown sugar

125ml milk

200g peanut butter

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

425g icing sugar

Method

Melt butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and milk and bring to the boil stirring frequently. Take off heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla - beat until smooth. Pour into foil lined square dish. Chill and then cut into squares

MINI ROCKY ROAD CAKES

Ingredients

1 mug chopped marshmallows

1 1/2 mugs chopped chocolate

1 mug broken digestive biscuits

1 mug sultanas

35g butter

Method

Put the chocolate and butter in a microwavable dish and heat in a microwave for 35 seconds (or until melted). Remove from the microwave and mix well.

Place the sultanas, biscuits and mini marshmallows in a bowl with the melted chocolate and butter and mix well, so that everything is coated

Place the mixture in small “blobs” onto a foil-covered baking tray, ready to put into the fridge for about 20 minutes (or until set). - TallEnglishGent

NOT FOR EATING

PLAY DOUGH

Ingredients

250g plain flour

50g salt

140ml water

1 to 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Few drops food colouring - optional

Method

Mix together flour and salt in large bowl. Add the water and oil. Knead well until mixture smooth - about 10 minutes.

Might have to add more flour or water until the consistency smooth but not sticky.

Store in plastic bag in the fridge until chilled enough to handle.
