THE non-profit organisation, namely Imfundo Yethu Foundation in eNtembisweni area, hosted a soccer and netball tournament in this area recently.

eNtembisweni area is one of the rural areas under Umvoti with a high rate of theft, drug and alcohol abuse, violence and teenage pregnancy.

The aim of the tournament was to unite the youth and to distance them from these social issues.

Since the announcement of the tournament, in mid-August, till the day of the tournament, the youth spent most of their time preparing for the tournament and through that, they didn’t have time to engage in these problematic activities.

The tournament raised the spirit of unity amongst the youth, to fight against crime in our community. Crime has been a major problem for people aiming to grow businesses in this area. They also said “no to women and child abuse”.

The positive feedback received from people within the community and beyond has firmly proven that sport is a major thing that brings out the spirit of love and unity.

The team that won received a Kaizer Chiefs original jerseys, trophy and a cash prize.

Players of the tournament received vouchers from Brazo17.

We would like to give our special thanks to the following sponsors; Kaizer Chiefs, Aquellé, What About Us Entertainment, Brazo17 and Lugaju Productions.

The sponsors were able to support this event and make it a success.

Going forward, we still hope to work with our sponsors and also get more sponsors with the aim to encourage the spirit of sports under Umzinyathi Municipality. — Supplied
