GROWING up in a rural area in the outskirts of Greytown motivated a local DJ, Sphamandla “Snazo” Ngubane, to start an entertainment company for the Greytown community. After matriculating at Busani High School in Matimatolo, Ngubane raised funds to start Onisa Music Fridays (OMF), with the aim of assisting aspiring and budding artists in all music genres. In his interview with the Greytown Gazette, Ngubane said his main aim is to give budding artists a platform to showcase their talent. “The love of music and my wish to become a DJ started in 2006 when I realised that it was crucial to have a means to entertain my community. “I began my career when I was at Sangweni Primary School in Matimatolo. “It was my love of music that motivated me to start an entertainment company that will mould and sharpen the skills of young artists. I have assisted many artists, including those in the house-music genre,” Ngubane said.OMF is a Greytown-based event-centred music company that is led by DJ Snazo. On the last Friday of each month, Ngubane and his team of promoters and artists visit areas around Greytown to entertain the community. “Coming back to your roots can be difficult because it entails leaving behind everything that you [worked for] and are familiar with. “As a young black and gifted DJ returning to his roots, it means transcending my music to go to a place where there are no boundaries or limits,” he said.Ngubane is self-driven and has a positive mindset when it comes to his craft and everything else he does.He added that his vision is to represent Greytown’s entertainment scene by invading the music industry more intensely than ever before.
