Petrol price up …again

2018-07-04 06:01

MOTORISTS who did not fill up with petrol are in for a huge shock at the petrol pumps today as the price of petrol once again went up at midnight.

With 93 octane increased by 26 cents a litre and 95 unleaded by 23 cents, the R16 a litre mark inland has been breached.

Diesel increases by 24 cents a litre and illuminating paraffin by 20 cents.

The AA said: “The average rand/U.S. dollar exchange rate has slipped in a virtual straight line since the start of June and further increases are expected in the future”.

A total of 38% to 40% of the money paid for fuel goes to taxes and fuel levies, and R1,93 per litre to the Road Accident Fund.

A campaign has been established nationally called #fuelpricesmustfall and is organised by “People Against Petrol and Paraffin Price Increases”.
