Phase 2 emergency water intervention updates

2016-07-20 06:00

“THE main contractor and management of phase 2 emergency water intervention, wish to inform the citizens of Greytown that by Friday 22 July, stage 1 will come online. This means we will be able to supply about 1 000 000 litres of water per 24 hours to the water treatment works. Stage 2 will come online in about two weeks, supplying another 800 000 litres per 24 hours.

Under normal conditions, when the water supply was open 24 hours a day, Greytown used 5 500 000 litres a day on average.

When water was open for four hours in the morning, Greytown used 1 400 000 litres a day on average, including the supply to community Jojo tanks.

We ask consumers to continue using water sparingly. Umvoti is an extremely water-stressed area and will remain so for a long time to come.

Greytown Gazette for an update on stage 2.
