‘Pinktober’ a great success

2018-10-24 06:02

“PINKTOBER” was the theme for this year’s Cancer Awareness Day. It took place on Saturday at the Greytown community hall. The event was organised by Greytown’s Superbody Club.

Pink is the colour associated internationally with breast cancer.

This was the eighth year such an event has been held in Greytown not only to raise awareness of cancer, but also to raise funds to assist in various cancer awareness projects.

Despite the rain it was well supported by the community.

Throughout the day, Shavathon was present, adding colour to the day, while raising funds for Cansa.

One of the highlights of the day was the auction, where items sponsored were sold to raise funds for cancer awareness. All proceeds from the auction and the event will go to various cancer organisations.

Theresa Edwards gave a small talk on the importance of breast cancer awareness to put the message across about the importance of regular check-ups and emphasise the importance of early detection and living a healthy lifestyle.

Zama Ntobeko from CHOC also spoke about the organisation and what they do for children with cancer and their families.

The Superbody Club honours all of the survivors that were present and remembered those who have passed on.

We had a wide variety of beautiful cupcakes that were brought in for the cupcakes for cancer sale.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event.
