THE Greytown SPCA appeals to residents not to dump unwanted animals on the road, this after a cat was found in a closed box on the Kranskop Road near the Dundee turnoff recently.

Sylvan Havemann from the Greytown SPCA said the young cat was squashed in the box and was unable to get out.

“Fortunately, a kindly passer-by saw the box rolling into the main road (obviously the cat frantically trying to claw his way out) and rescued the poor creature. If [they hadn’t], he would have been crushed by a vehicle. The SPCA will collect the animals to prevent this barbaric and callous behaviour,” Havemann said.

The SPCA appeals to the public to contact them at 072 096 9634 should they wish to get rid of their unwanted animals.
