RESIDENTS of Arcadia Old Age Home and Concordia meet regularly on Monday mornings at Arcadia for toning and stretch exercises.

Ten local ladies are involved with the residents on a roster basis, lovingly ensuring that someone takes the class weekly.

Estelle Fouche, from Stell's Fitness Gym, heard about this weekly exercise class and offered the residents the chance to try the class at her gym.

Estelle put them through their paces with the help of Happy Chanane, who is also a small dynamite package.

Some residents had never been inside a modern gym and certainly enjoyed the boxing, ropes, balls, weights etc.

Fouche and Happy Chanane, made sure that their students worked hard enough to earn tea and cake at Tranquilitea.

The residents loved the novel experience and look forward to a future exercise session.

Arcadia’s successful lucky draw will be followed up with the annual bazaar, which will be held on November 3 at the community hall.

There will be a White Elephant, tea garden, a children’s entertainment area, pancakes, and second hand clothing for sale.

Definitely something for everyone!

If you have any second hand clothing or household goods, fresh produce or plants to donate, please contact Lynn Fouche on 033 417 1528 for further details.

The residents continue to enjoy a number of activities such as church services, occupational therapy and weekly exercises.

A reminder that should families wish to share Sunday lunch with a resident, please book by the Thursday afternoon. The cost is R50 per person.

We would like to welcome Paul du Preez, Karen Taylor, Annika Savage, Bobby Pearson and Mark Reineke to our committee.
