THE Porée siblings have a close similarity to the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin that swims on the east coast of Africa. All four Porée siblings have swum competitively for Wembley College for over 15 years.

It doesn’t seem physically possible that one family can hold 46 out of the 93 swimming records at one school. Hope (19), the eldest Porée daughter, holds three records, Tayla (17), her younger sister, holds 19 records and Luke, (15) the eldest brother holds 22 records. Aran (10), the youngest brother, holds two records.

Their dolphin-like-qualities are enhanced by rigid training. Sheona Lottering, the local swimming teacher, has trained the family for many years but this year, Tayla trained herself and her two brothers. The family has trained every December holiday for nine years.

Hope left school two years ago and is now studying in Durban and training pupils at Crawford College. Hope won victrix ludorum eight times in her schooling career. Tayla has won victrix ludorum since her Grade 4 year (nine times) and Luke has won it since Grade 2 (nine times). Aran has won victrix ludorum twice.

This year, Tayla will receive honours for swimming for the fifth consecutive year. Luke will be awarded the white honours blazer for outstanding performance. Both Luke and Tayla are receiving honours for making SA and provincial swimming times.

They have made the Midland swimming team on several occasions.

Wembley College is proud of their swimming achievements.
