Louise YeadonWE could not have a more appropriately named band playing at our Duck Derby celebrations this year, than Rubber Duc - a fresh South African four-piece band. The name of the band was chosen because it reflects their lyrics – fun, authentic and cheerful melodies with clever lyrics that stick in your mind. If you enjoy dancing, then this is the band for you. It is a little bit of folk, pop, swing, and above all, funk. The band believes that music has the power to unite people and to change the world, even just for a moment. “When people sing our music back to us, whether it is one person or a thousand, the message has touched someone in one way or another.”Rubber Duc released their debut album in 2016 and are planning to release their second album in 2018. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to hear them on 1 September at the 20th anniversary Wembley College Duck Derby. Tickets are R250, which includes entry to the Duck Derby, flea market and performances throughout the weekend. Tickets available from the school. Wembley Old pupils will receive a free ticket if they bring a friend - buy one ticket, get one free or old pupils can buy one ticket for R200. The band will perform on Friday 1 September at 5pm at the Wembley College Pavilion. Alcohol can be brought into the performance by anyone over 18 years of age - no cash bar on the school grounds.
