A SCHOOL safety programme was launched in the Mtulwa area in uMshwathi recently.

The programme addresses various issues including bullying and other social ills in the schooling environment. The aim is to promote the good behaviour of pupils and minimise the number of teenage pregnancies and school drop-outs. Representatives from the Department of Correctional Services, the uMshwathi Municipality, Department of Social Development, SAPS, Liquor Authority KZN and Nicro, addressed the pupils. Spokesperson for uMshwathi Municipality Sbusiso Mkhithi said: “It is the commitment of the municipality to work with all stakeholders to ensure the safety of the community. We run this programme every year.

Our intention is to visit all schools in uMshwathi.

We recently went to Mzikawuthandwa High and Makeni Primary in Ward 3,” Mkhithi said.
