SAPS officer get two life sentences for rape

A TEENAGER, assaulted by her father, ran to the police station for help only to be raped by one of those from whom she was seeking protection.
On 9 May 2015, the 14-year-old was at her home in Msinga when, at about 10 pm her friend's cellphone, which had been left with her, rang. It apparently was her friend's boyfriend and as she was telling him to phone the following day to talk her friend, her father walked in.
He grabbed the phone from her, but as she tried to explain what it was all about he started hitting her and attempted to strangle her.
The teen's mother and aunt, hearing her screams, came into the room and rescued her.

The young girl then ran to find help and went to the local police station in Msinga, but a SAPS member there, 43-year-old Sergeant Jacob Thembinkosi Ngubane raped her in his room at the Msinga police station barracks.

FCS Greytown Captain K. Budloo and the LCRC unit arrested the suspect. The docket was then transferred to IPID and the accused was sentenced to two life sentences in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on 5 June.
