A LOVE of traditional music is something that Ashley Moodley (32) from Greytown wants to spread among the youth in a bid to revive and revitalise Hindi music. Moodley took social media by storm recently when he posted three videos of himself singing Bollywood songs. His videos are still making the rounds on Facebook, with his fans commenting on them. “There have been three videos that I’ve posted thus far. The music that I’ve posted thus far comes from Bollywood movies. These are just popular songs that have been released over the years. “I have a passion for music and singing. Since a young age I’ve attended Shri Vishnu Mandhir Greytown and sang with the service group. The members of the temple and the community have always been supportive and encouraged me to sing and learn music,” he said.He told the Gazette that he has always been drawn towards Hindi music, saying it has a good sound.“The fact that, generally, most of the songs are from movies, it tends to give the songs more meaning. “I’m trying to post songs more often to get myself out there. I’m going to try and post at least a song every week and I am definitely going to try different things,” he said.
