St Cathryn’s news

2016-03-16 06:00

THE Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug played over the weekend produced a smaller field than last month and we once again appreciate the support from our neighbours Greytown Country Club.
St Cathryn’s members congratulate the new Greytown golf captain – Tienie Muller – baie geluk Tienie, we are looking forward to a continued, good working relationship with Greytown Country Club.
St Cathryn’s uses the following holes 3, 7, 10, 15 and 16, as their count-out holes, which were selected over 18 years ago when the course was first built, and this weekend they were used to work out the Mug results.

3rd Keith Stanger Nett 73 oco

4th Flip Botha

Best Stableford: Flip Botha 36 oco from

Captains Putter: Bertus Bezuidenhout.

During the past week the KZN Turf Managers’ Association held their monthly meeting at our course and Tim Hambley the representative from SKN Mowers and the agents for Husqvarna on the North Coast, were the sponsors.
They displayed and demonstrated the new battery-operated chain-saws, brush cutters, hedge cutters and blowers. After the demo the guys took to the golf course and reported afterwards that although there are drought conditions, the course played well and some good ideas to improve St Cathryn’s were exchanged.

Liekie Steyn represented the club in the KZNLGA Bronze Championship and shield at VCC. Liekie was the runner-up in her division and we wish her well as she also went on to play in the match play finals on Monday – results to follow.

Preparations are under way for the Arcadia golf tournament this weekend to be played over two days at two golf courses - Greytown and St Cathryn’s - with a shotgun start. Please contact Greytown Country Club to enter. We are looking forward to two great days of golf.

Supper this Friday 18 March will be a bring-and-braai. Contact Piet to book meals and/or golf on 083 269 1661.
