St Cathryn’s news

FARMERS’ Agri-Care, our sponsor for the monthly mug, would have been proud of the larger than normal turnout for Saturday’s mug. Golfers came from Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Greytown and there were our faithful locals. Perfect golfing weather greeted the golfers.

Greens are starting to speed up and were 11.49 on the stimpmeter. The fairways give those extra metres in your drive off the tee box, and golfers are looking for those extra metres.

Two golfers in the field, who would like to remain anonymous, forgot to sign their card when handed in, and lost a severe bet against their younger partners in their four-ball.

Although these two golfers - let’s call them “Ballie” and the “Dad Bruv” (not their real names) took the punishment when they realised their fault. Should they have checked their cards and signed them as correct they would have noticed that in fact they didn’t lose the bet, but due to the two-stroke penalty they were given, as it was a stroke play competition. Their punishment - a serious concoction they had to drink.

On Sunday morning seven of our golfers travelled to Greytown to play in the Plennegy Ladies Invitational. That is commitment to golf and mention must be made that he was in the prizes at the end of the day. Thank you to the Greytown ladies section for a wonderful golfing outing and their friendly hospitality.

This Friday will have roast chicken and vegetables on the menu. To book for golf and/or meals, phone 083 269 1661 or 082 555 2661.
