IT was a long day on the course for some players when the members played in the January Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug last Saturday. The green keeper found it more tough going than others, he started early with setting up the mowers and then took to the tee box. With four of the greens having had severe verticutting, tough kikuyu rough in places and greens that are hard and a little bumpy, the tough dry summer conditions are slowly taking their toll on the course.St Cathryn's is proud of Justin Harrison who flew off to Dubai on Sunday to work on the golf course where the Dubai Desert Classic will be played this coming week. As a youngster Justin spent many holidays at St Cathryn's playing golf, mowing greens and trimming the green surrounds with Steve. After school he went to study green keeping and was selected to be part of the green-keeping staff for this big tournament that draws professional golfers and players in the top 100 ranking. Well done Justin, and have a fantastic time. Results of the Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug:1st: Keith Stanger nett 68 oco2nd: Merwin Rabe nett 683rd: Mike Harrison nett 694th: Fanie van Wyk nett 775th: Liekie Steyn nett 78 oco from Brent BarkhuizenCaptains Putter: Piet NelNearest to Pin 9/18: Fanie van WykBest Stableford: Merwin Rabe 40 pointsSupper this Friday night - we will be serving roast pork, vegetables in season, salad, with Malva pudding and custard R85 per person, please book by 6pm, today. To book for golf and/or meals, phone 083 269 1661 or 082 555 2661.
