It was tough going for the golfers in the Farmers Agri-Care Monthly Mug on Saturday 25 February.

With the recent very good rains, 90 mm from Sunday last week up to Friday, the course could only be prepared over Thursday and Friday. With 80% of the course being Kikuyu grass, on fairways and rough, and the limited time made for some “hairy conditions”. The fairways were very lush and no extra distance was achieved on the “drives”.

The sunny conditions on Friday and Saturday were ideal to dry out the course but we could almost hear the grass growing. The greens came through nicely and weren’t as soft as predicted, but with a very nice roll. Thank you to the Greytown golfers for their support.

Thank you to all the golfers, Badger and his motorbike group, for contributing to the CANSA shavathon fundraiser, we were able to give a donation of R1 000, and did this in honour of all who have cancer in our district. We send “Special Get Well” messages to Liekie and that the Mug was very quiet without you.

The Triangular scheduled for the 12th March has been postponed due to it clashing with the Zululand league , Mandeni and Darnall both fall in that league. The new date will be announced in due course.
