St Cathryn’s news

2017-05-17 06:00

WITH one of the wettest and coldest weekends in the past two years, St Cathryn’s members, Greytown members, visitors from Modderfontein and Benoni Lake Golf Club took on the Farmers Agri-Care Monthly Mug on Saturday. At the time of the report we measured 115mm of rain, with very cold conditions, and this all for the R350 meat hamper that was up for grabs.

Some of the golfers opted to bail out after nine holes as the cold and wet conditions got to their game, but the ones that completed the game said that the golfing conditions improved after the half-time toasted sarmies, and of course, more Old Brown sherry.

Now the top seller for the weekend was OB’s and a fresh supply almost had to be flown in, but with the low cloud cover this exercise was impossible, and the local courier company had to replenish stocks.

Thank you to all who braved the weather, it was a fun day. The next Farmers Agri-Care Monthly Mug will be played on Saturday 17 June.

The club will not be open on Friday night as there is a braai at HMB School as part of their Schulfest weekend, so let’s all go and support them there.

To book for golf, phone Piet on 083 269 1661.
