St Cathryn’s news

2017-11-29 06:00

THE Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug due to be played on Saturday November 25 had to be cancelled due to the weather.

The call to cancel was made early in the morning to prevent the chaps who had to travel having to make a wasted trip.

All the phone apps showed rain, and clearing up, but the times differed. At the time the call to cancel was made we took into consideration that members requested to tee off and the distance that members travel to get to St Cathryn’s.

The course and greens have recovered tremendously with the rain and the fertiliser given to the greens after a severe spike rolling.

This gave the greens the spring kick-start they needed and the putting surface should be less bumpy.

The next Farmers’ Agri-Care monthly mug will be played on December 16, with the AGM report-back and members’ dinner that evening.

Incidentally this will be the first Farmers’ Agri-Care monthly mug for the new membership season and on Sunday December 17 we play for the Mug of Mugs.

A reminder that night we collect money donations for the green-keeping staff.

The planning committee is working on the new membership rates and fixture list for 2018, and after consideration and new sponsors coming on board, more better ball competitions will be played.

Our family golf day will be played at Boschoek on Wednesday December 27 and we have booked three, four balls, please book with Piet. Payment is due on the day we meet at Boschoek.

The cost is R470 per player. Our format is always a fun format of 4 ball alliance and three scores to count, with all four on the shorts.

Lunch venue will be at the “Beer Fassel”, please RSVP for golf and lunch by December 15.

This Friday the clubhouse is closed for a private function and there is “Happy Hour” at our neighbour gemeinde.
