Prize giving was followed by the annual AGM report-back meeting. We held a moments silence in memory of members and golfers who are no longer with us, and this year we remembered Earl Browning, who although he was a member at Greytown, was most supportive of St Cathryn’s.

The chairman, Piet then explained the fee increases from KZNGU and HNA for 2018, as well as the local subs.

Captain Brent Barkhuizen thanked our sponsors for their valued support during 2017, Farmers’ Agri-Care, Patrick O’Sullivan and Sean Carroll for their sponsorship of our Monthly Mugs, Tuta Carriers – Geoff Newlands for his sponsorship of club champs, Up-one Farming, Wally Gevers for his wonderful eggs as prizes for Monthly Mug.

Dr Rikus Kloppers for his donation of wine for nearest to the pin prizes at the Monthly Mug, and Liekie Steyn for her fabulous cakes, CPS Seedlings for their generous sponsorship of our score cards, Plennegy and Duane Corbishley for their support of the St Cathryn’s Inter-club team.

Tienie Muller, golf captain from Greytown also said a few words, and was pleased to note the good relationship that exists between our two clubs.

The chairman also thanked all the members for their support and a special thank you to Dieter Meyer for his work on the Arcadia golf days as well as being the inter-club convener.

Brent Barkhuizen was unanimously re-elected golf captain. The winner of the Grand Prix (points earned at monthly mugs) was Fanie van Wyk.

Piet also said farewell to Rikus and Liekie who will be relocating to Pretoria in the new year and thanked them for their support to the golf club as well as to the efficient running of the estate.

Piet thanked every member for their support and wished everybody a wonderful Christmas.

The AGM ended with the members and invited guests enjoying dinner together.

On Sunday morning December 17 the six members who had won a Mug during the year played in the Farmers’ Agri-Care Jug of Mugs.

Winner was Tienie Muller nett 71, followed by Piet Nel nett 74 and Dieter Meyer nett 75. Thank you to Kranskop Build it for their generous prizes – the golfers were most appreciative.

The St Cathryn’s family day away is to be played at Boschhoek on Wednesday December 27 and the first Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug for 2018 will be played on Saturday January 20, followed by the Bruce Paterson Better Ball Competition on Sunday January 21.
