St Cathryn’s news

2018-05-30 06:00

THE St Cathryn’s Classic was played over a busy golfing weekend for the Umvoti area, and 36 players enjoyed their golf at St Cathryn’s on May 26.

The kikuyu rough was harsh at places, causing the ball to slide into darkness and only a white speckle was visible at times, costing a shot or two on some scorecards.

However, golfers staying on the fairway had no problems.

The near-perfect golfing weather, with a slight cool breeze at times, made for a fun-filled day.

Father and son combination Badger and Gregan Aherin walked away with the 35-year-old
J.S. Nel (PTY) LTD trophy.

Prizes were awarded to 13th position and consisted of Pro-v golf balls, pro shop vouchers, meat hampers, fleece jackets, short-sleeve jackets, cleaning products, meat boards and power banks.

2nd — Marius Muller and Henrico Corbett 42 points

3rd — Ronel Botha and Michelle March 41 points o.c.o

4th — Mike Harrison and Gerald Harrison

5th — Tienie Muller and Tubby Larkan 40 points.

At the prize-giving event, all players, visitors and sponsors were thanked most sincerely by the chairperson, and everyone enjoyed the dinner served and there were some who stayed up quite late.

Members were delighted to have their ladies captain — Liekie Steyn, back on the course. Welcome back, Liekie.
