IT was an exciting golfing Grand Prix race to the end of the 2018 season of the Farmers Agri-care Monthly Mug on Saturday, as three golfers were in contention for half a lamb as the prize.

Fanie van Wyk, Marius Muller and Dieter Meyer making it an exciting race to the end, as Van Wyk had a two-point lead over Meyer and a 14-point lead over Muller.

The morning golfers met with Berg wind conditions in the morning and the afternoon field had less wind to contend with and a storm was building up, but sadly no rain.


First — Maruis Muller 72 nett

Second — Dieter Meyer 73 nett

Third — Fanie van Wyk nett 76

Nearest to pin 2/11th — Fanie van Wyk

Nearest to pin 9/18th — Steve van der Merwe

Captains Putter — Fritz Volker.


First — Fanie van Wyk 107 points

Second — Dieter Meyer 106 points

Third — Marius Muller 97 points

Fourth — Tienie Muller 89 points

Fifth — Mike Harrison 78 points.

Other notables were Piet Nel with 74, Merwin Rabe 32 and Brent Barkhuizen 26.

The Grand Prix race is open to all golfers and playing in the Monthly Mugs ensures your entry. The first Monthly Mug for the 2019 season is on December 15, with the report back meeting to members that evening and Mug of Mugs on the Sunday.
