St Cathryn’s news

2019-04-03 06:01

ST CATHRYN’S golfers played in Greytown in the annual Plennegy Golf Day on March 30 and made use of the tournament as a last-minute competitive round before this weekend’s Tuta Carriers Club Championships, taking place on April 6 and April 7. So far, the field looks very competitive in all divisions and some members have also booked their accommodation for Saturday night.

A reminder that we will have our “bring and braai” on Saturday evening and tee off on Saturday will be from 11am. Golfers can expect that hole one and ten will have two pin positions on the same green, and the course will be set up with three tight, three fair, and three very easy pin positions.

The first round of the Tuta Carriers Club Championship will also be the Farmers Agri -care Monthly Mug on Saturday, April 6.

Thirty-three paddlers took part in the Crusaders Canoe Club Race on the Tugela on March 30 and March 31. The paddlers had a wonderful time on the river, which was classed as “medium level” full. Paddlers came up to St Cathryn’s to camp and dropped into the valley on Sunday to complete the race. As this is not a “race” there were no official results but canoeists enjoyed the “ride” on the river. The temperatures in the valley rose to a hot 38 degrees.

Thank you to the Crusaders Canoe Club for their valued support. — Supplied.
