St Cathryn’s news

2019-05-22 06:00

IT TOOK young “Comm serve” dentist Heinrich Sander to fill all eighteen holes at the Farmers Agri-care monthly mug on May 18; with the least amount of fillings (putts) he took the mug by two shots from Fanie van Wyk. Playing in his first official mug, he was nervous at the start but partners Steve and Barry looked after him. All the hours Heinrich has been practising have paid off.

Our St Cathryn’s Classic has been postponed to a date to be announced due to a major school function at Hermannsburg, and we encourage our members to go and support Hermannsburg at their annual school fest on Saturday, May 25.

First: Heinrich Sander nett 69

Second: Fanie van Wyk nett 71

Third: Lawrence Savage nett 73

Fourth: Barry van Niekerk nett 77

Fifth: Mike Harrison nett 78

Captains putter: M Scott

Nearest to pin 9/18th: Fanie van Wyk.

It was great to have Justin Harrison on the course, back from his working stint in the USA, just as was it wonderful to have all the other golfers on the course.

The slight frost early in May has had no effect on the course and the greens have been given some irrigation, with the recent donation from CMP farming when they opened their dam to boost our dam’s level. Thank you CMP farming on behalf of all the St Cathryn’s members and home owners.

The final draw for the match play has been done and you are reminded to play your match play games on the weekend of the first and second of June. The Sanlam Cancer Challenge is played the following weekend and we will combine it with the Farmers Agri-care monthly mug on June 8.

We are open for golf all weekend but we are closed on Friday, May 24 for supper as there is supper at HMB School.

To book for golf, contact Piet at 083 269 1661. — Supplied.
