THE Farmers Agri-care Monthly Mug was played in conjunction with the Sanlam Cancer Challenge on Saturday, June 8.

The competitions were combined due to the long distances our members have to drive to play.

The funds raised for the Sanlam Cancer Challenge go towards cancer research and all the golfers’ entry fees had a R75 contribution towards this research.

Thank you to the local farmers and home owners that popped in to give donations.

The course is still green, despite having had three frosts, and the greens are fast.

The fairway on the eighth is mending nicely, that is the area where the pine stumps were removed and the fairway was widened, as was the fairway on the sixth.

Both competitions played on Saturday were played off the blue markers and compared to the white markers — it is a different course but still has a bite to it.

Thank you to Sanlam for the prizes received for the players — always much appreciated.

There is a raffle still on for a book prize and tickets can be bought from the club until June 14.

There was good spirit during the day and afterwards at the braai, enjoyed with other visitors from Maritzburg golf club, as the course was analysed and discussed.
