ST David’s Diocesan School held its prize giving on November 30.

We welcomed special guests Reverend and Mrs Rattenberry, who are visiting the Diocese of Natal from the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham in England. Grade 6 sang a special song and Grade 1 performed a poem about cats, complete with cat masks.

Linique Alexander and Erika-Anne Edwards from Grade 7 entertained us with a humorous skit written by Linique. Grade 3 expressed their thanks and bid farewell to their teacher Mrs Hoy, who is retiring after 11 years of service to the school.

Grade 1 pupils received a storybook for completing their first year at school. Grade 2 pupils each received a certificate for his or her special talent and contribution to the class.

The following pupils were presented with achievement certificates:

Grade 3: Scarlet Alexander for achievement in maths. Mfundo Dlamini for academic achievement. Jamie Wessels for progress and an enquiring mind. Langa Zuma for achievement in English.

Grade 4: Thingo Mkhize, Layla Mthimkhulu, Alwande Xaba and Uzubenathi Xulu for academic achievement. Owethu Ali, Ayabonga Mdlalose and Alondwe Xulu for good progress; Zamanondaba Zondi for excellence in maths.

Grade 5: Teagon Alexander for academic excellence. Amy-Lee Gilson, Kelly Howard, Anele Ntshingila and Jacob Turner for academic achievement. Awande Ntshingila and Lukas Potgieter for diligence. Nothando Masikane, Melokuhle Mvelase, Melokuhle Nsele and Sizophila Sithole for conscientious effort.

Grade 6: Chante Brown for academic excellence. Zanamhla Ndlovu for achievement in maths and science. Samkelisiwe Luthuli, Sandisiwe Makhatini and Lindelwa Mhlongo for academic achievement. Ntobeko Masuku for his passion for reading.

Mrs J. Hoy, guests of honour, presented the special awards to Grade 7. St David’s would like to express appreciation to the sponsors for their generosity.

Bart’s Computers award: Victor Mpofu.

Terra Craig Trophy for Progress in maths: Phiwokuhle Sithole.

Mary James Trophy for Reading: Linique Alexander and Tayla Oellermann.

Thompson Trophy for Endeavour: Shanice Mutakiwa.

St. David’s Trophy for Initiative: Tayla Oellermann.

Greytown Build-it Leadership Trophy: Linique Alexander.

Mary Slatter Trophy for Service to Schoo,
