THE Youth Citizens Action Programme (YCAP) team from Kranskop Primary School comprising Asanda Dlamini, Asanda Dladla, Penelope Dlamini, and Amahle Sibisi, led by teacher in charge TP Shange, represented KwaZulu-Natal at the national finals of the Youth Citizens Action Programme (YCAP) held at Kopanong Hotel and Conference Centre in Benoni on August 17.

The competition commenced at 9 am, and all provinces were commended for the presentation of their projects, which will make an impact on removing the social ills identified by the teams.

Our school selected the theme “Recycling covering the topics Reuse, Reduce and Conserve.” Our team conducted themselves well and did a commendable presentation. The questions from the floor were answered with ease and confidence and SW Keswa, the district director, made a surprise visit and boosted the confidence of the learners.

At the presentation ceremony held on August 18, our school scooped position two in the beginner level category (schools in the first and second year in the programme). Well done to the Kranskop Primary YCAP team.

The principal; on behalf of the SGB members, parents, staff and teachers; places on record sincere thanks and appreciation to the following individuals and businesses who made it possible for our team, including supporters, to attend the three-day function in Benoni: Kwa Omane; Eagle Photo’s; Maharaj Bro’s (Kranskop); Dr N Zondi; Honourable Councillor PMS Ngubane (personal capacity); SMAK Wholesalers; Ubunye Funderals; Mr Ahmed; Kranskop BuildIt; Dunlop Express (Kwik Fit Kranskop); Plennegy and various individuals for their donations.
