‘Sugar Daddies’ comes Greytown

2016-07-20 06:00

THE Playhouse Company is taking its Sugar Daddies on tour to KZN high schools and will be in Greytown at Buhlebuyeza High on Friday 22 July at 9am.

The performance is staged on a mobile stage which the Playhouse personnel provide, which means there is space for a large audience.
The production is being re-staged after a successful run in 2014 when it played to over 20 000 pupils.

This "anti-blesser" play is of high interest, topical and focuses on the current and prevalent practice of older, often married, men with financial means having very young girlfriends.

These young girls are often seeking a way to achieve a better lifestyle without realising the consequences and implications of their actions. The production highlights the irresponsible behaviour of these “sugar daddies” or “blessers”, as they are often called, and seeks to help young women to avoid falling victim to these predators.

This work is directed by Edmund Mhlongo, with a cast that includes Ngcebo Cele, Heather Gielink, Annalisa Gxabu, Vumani Khumalo, Nompilo Maphumulu, Phumlani Ngubane, Sandile Nxumalo and Snelisiwe Radebe.
