THREE years ago, Nonhlanhla "Winnie" Buthelezi, who was working in Grey- town, was given a sweet potato slip by her then employer.

When she went back home to Mbuba she asked neighbours what to with it and they told her how to plant it. She planted it and more or less forgot about it until a few weeks ago when she decided to clean up and clear the garden. There was this huge spread of leaves and stems and on digging up came many very large sweet potatoes, and they taste good too.

One of the largest weighed in at three kilograms.

Definitely a lady with green fingers, Winnie, who is currently unemployed, is looking for a job (076 776 3444). She obviously enjoys gardening.
