THEY came in peace to place flowers and positive messages, prayers and slogans to play their part in the nationwide expression by thousands and thousands in standing up for the future and positive development of South Africa.

Even the very young were there to condone the plunder of our beloved country.

Social media was used to send a request to Umvoti residents to be there for the peaceful protest held last Friday mainly on the Okes Street island between the library and St James.

With the emphasis on peace members of the public stood up to be counted.

This expression of hope was there for two hours when unfortunately, Umvoti Municipal workers got overexcited, perhaps because they were no longer striking, and swept away the flowers and messages into orange bin bags.
