FOLLOWING a spate of burglaries in the Welgegund area over the past month, Field Security moved in to take action, gathering information to trace the suspects and the buyers of the stolen goods.
Working with the SAPS and the dog unit from Pietermaritzburg several suspects were arrested and stolen goods recovered, including a Jack Russell dog that had been missing for a week.

In the first operation a number of items were recovered, with Warrant Officer Mbambo and Warrant Officer T.T. Sithole assisting the Field Security team. A brush-cutter and chain saws were also recovered

On 29 January an Ahrens farmer had three firearms and household goods stolen. Shortley after this information was received that one of the firearms was in the possession of someone in the Nseleni area.
With investigating officers, Constable Bhagwandeen and Sergeant Dickens – the suspects were arrested and charged with the possession of suspected stolen property by Kranskop SAPS.

With Constable Mhlongo and Nxele of Kranskop, a shotgun, buried in the ground, was recovered and the following day a rifle was recovered in Nseleni.
