SIX illegal weapons were recovered last Friday and two suspects arrested in a joint intelligence driven operation to recover illegal firearms.

Members of the Pietermaritzburg Tactical Response Team and Dalton SAPS personnel conducted the operation targeting illegal firearms in the Mvoti and Inadi locations.

Two suspects aged 36 and 46 years, were arrested in raids on two homesteads.

One suspect was found in possession of a pistol and a rifle as well as ammunition.

The second suspect was found at another homestead with three rifles and ammunition. Police also found a shotgun which has not yet been linked to anyone.

The suspects appeared in the New Hanover Magistrate’s Court this week on charges of being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.
