A HEAD-ON collision between a taxi and a bakkie resulted in the death of two men as the vehicles rolled down a steep embankment on the Ntunjambili road in the Kranskop area. Fifteen passengers in the taxi suffered injuries.

The accident, the cause of which is not known at the time of going to press, occurred late on Sunday morning.

ER24 paramedics and other rescue services arrived at the scene to find the badly damaged bakkie and taxi way down from the road.

The bodies of the two were found trapped inside the bakkie, both men had already succumbed to their multiple injuries and were declared dead on the scene.

Fifteen other injured people were treated and transported to a nearby hospital for injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

This road was also the scene of a horrific accident last April when a bus transporting passengers from Bulwer to Ntunjambili left the road, overturned and rolled about 100 metres.

In this tragedy 13 passengers died on the scene and two later in hospital.
