TWO men were arrested and four unlicensed firearms recovered by Kranskop SAPS acting on information received from Durban about a murder in which firearms had been used.
According to the source in Durban the suspects were from the Kranskop area and it is believed they fled back to their home.

SAPS members and the Kranskop station commander went to Oshikishini, where the suspect was found at his residence. On searching the suspect’s vehicle and premises an unlicensed 9 mm Parabellum, with the number filed off, was found in the suspect’s possession together with nine rounds of live ammunition.
A licensed .303, found in his vehicle, was also removed for further investigation. Also in the suspect’s car a further 30 rounds of illegal .38 special rounds were recovered.

After an intense search of neighbouring houses, a second suspect was taken into custody and a homemade shotgun and 12-bore shotgun was recovered.

Kranskop police chief Lieutenant-Colonel Minnaar told the Greytown Gazette she was extremely proud of the professional way in which her members had responded to the information received and the dedication and determination they had showed to preserve and recover the unlicensed firearms and illegal ammunition

Hopefully, due to the quick response and seizures of the firearms and ammunition and the two arrests by the Kranskop SAPS, the killing of community members in Oshikishini will come to an end and peace will, once again, be restored.
