UAS to host adventure racer at dinner

2018-05-23 06:01

THE Umvoti Agricultural Society (UAS) will be hosting its 163rd Annual General Meeting on Friday, May 25 at the Green Bar at 4 pm.

Mr D. Brown, current president of the society, will outline what the UAS committee attends to and how it provides the agricultural community a formal forum to discuss and attend to the many challenges facing agriculture today.

The UAS committee members spend much time working to assist the community in negotiating municipal rates discussing security issues, road blockades, trying to get roads fixed, livestock issues, etc.

The AGM will be followed by dinner for UAS members and a talk by one of South Africa’s top trail runners, Ryno Griesel.

Griesel, who is one of South Africa’s number one trail runners and adventure racers, is qualified as a chartered accountant.

He has raced in the adventure racing circuit since 2006 with various top five international finishes. Race destinations include Africa, Europe, the Moabi desert in Utah and the icebergs of Patagonia.

Ryno currently co-holds the men’s team “fastest known time” for the 210 km Drakensberg Grand Traverse with Ryan Sandes at 41 hours, 49 minutes and has just broken the record with Ryan Sandes running across the Himalayas in 25 days.
