UMSHWATHI Municipality, recognising the importance of having a healthy work force, organised a wellness day for all its employees recently. A fitness session was held in the Cool Air Hall with information being given on the importance of and the health benefits of being physically active.

The municipality is working towards creating a healthy workplace by promoting activities that encourage movement, such as walking, stretching and exercising, during lunch breaks.

After the wellness day, all employees underwent medical examinations to ensure fitness to perform duties at an optimum level.

“We want to ensure that the physical work environment is safe and to provide healthy resources for employees,” said Andile Mkhize, human resources manager.
