THE 161st annual general meeting of the Umvoti Agricultural Society (UAS) was held on Friday 20 May at the Moth Hall.
Outgoing president Greg Hull outlined achievements over the past year on behalf of farmers in the various portfolios - security, land issues, municipal rates, roads ,emerging farmers and community upliftment, environmental matters, etc.
He also touched on the importance of being a member of the local farmers’ association, and the significance of being a member of Kwanalu, which was doing an incredible job representing organised agriculture in KZN.
The outgoing chairman referred to the great spirit in the area among local farmers, who are always ready to help each other, no matter the situation.

The AGM was followed by a dinner, at which Rens Van der Watt, sang and entertained members with his humorous dry sense of humour.

It was an enjoyable evening with a good attendance from UAS members. Thanks to the Moths for the venue, Tranquilitea, Juan Pretorius for the meal and Field Security for providing security guards.
