THE Umvoti Aids Centre (UAC) Christmas party was held on Wednesday, 2 December with lots of happy and excited children.

The special needs school, Buhlebomvoti Special School, with 22 children, who are currently using one of the rooms at the UAC as a classroom, added to the increased numbers as well as a few gate-crashers.

The afternoon started with games, musical statues, making a long party train and passing the parcel, very enthusiastically led by Irenee Allen, Kirsty Pope and Dips.

Turner Kirsty gave a short Christmas message and said a prayer for the children. Father Christmas arrived with a flourish and created more excitement when everyone had to dash back into the hall as the rain came down.

Presents were given to the children, most of which had been kindly donated by “secret Santas” from the Umvoti community sharing the Christmas spirit among less fortunate children. Party packs were also handed out.

The gift giving was followed by a meal, fruit and treats for the children and a dance demonstration from some of the young gentlemen at the event.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who bought gifts, donated cash towards the party, baked big cakes for the children and donated party packs, which all made the party possible.
